The tomb is in the churchyard of St Michaels, and the plaque is within the church. on the north wall.
History:
The plaque in the church was placed there in recognition of the major part he played in the construction of the Stort Navigation to the town.

He was for many Years a Secretary of the Admiralty
and a Member of Parliament for
Weymouth and Melcombe Regis, and for Colchester.

and Port Jackson in New South Wales
In 1769
He made the River Stort navigable
to this Town.
